Living Death's classic album... I only have the "new remix" version. Which one do you prefer? Is the difference that big at all?

The first mix no doubt

The snare drum sound (and everything else really) is much thinner sounding on the original mix, but I really like that.

What releases share the 2nd mix? I have the Earthshaker Rec. release from 1984, and KBTMT's Pic LP. Sound the same for me.

Mausoleum mix is better - sounds a bit thinner but gives it a more honest sort of punk sound and better for it as already mentioned - alot of the filth was removed in the remix.

Only Mausoleum press has the original mix as far as I'm aware.

Left: Mausoleum version, 1st press, original mix.
Right: Earthshaker version, 2nd press, remixed.

Should be easy and affordable to track down. Entire Living Death discography is essential listening IMHO but Vengeance of Hell has something very special in the playing and that original production that is unmatched by the others.

NEW REMIX version has a black back cover and doesn't have the Mausoleum centre labels or lyric insert. Mausoleum version has white back cover, cat number SKULL 8360 (ES 4002) and also bears the Earthshaker logo.

As mentionned above, i'd go for the original mix for this kind of record, cheap production but it adds a lot to it Wink

About the releases, the original lp is very affordable on discogs, it's not a rare item, but you can get the CD re-issue by High Roller Records released past year if i'm correct which includes both original and remixed one. Their LP versions are remixed however.
