instead of bumping weird threads to talk about these guys, figured I'd make a thread for them.

they have a new album coming out soon via Gilead Media, which will be entitled Immersion Trench Reverie. As far as I can tell, the release is right around the corner, maybe sometime in September or early October. The cover art has been revealed:

they have two new killer shirts available on their site at the moment as well, check them out here:

despite the fact that there are no official previews, I was able to find an online radio archive with one track from the new album, "Blue as Blue". I think it's fucking fantastic.

New track sounds great.

These guys seem to get lumped in with Krallice and Liturgy as "hipster" black metal, but I think their music is vastly superior to that of the latter, Hammer of Night in particular. Glad to see a new full length is on the way.

Saw them play at Migration Fest last summer. Intense live show - tons of energy.

Now I'm interested. Great track for sure.

I always hated it when people groused about this. Most of these bands are/were actually pretty solid atmospheric BM who just had a non-"kvlt" look. The only time I found it obnoxious was when the band members themselves acted obnoxious, like with Liturgy or Mutilation Rites.

Black metal typically placed on a plate under a cake or other sweet foods?

Appearance is a large part of the black metal scene... I do not think that can be denied. Should it be important?
Would be hard to take the atmosphere of evil seriously if the members were playing their show in sweat pants and a nike shirt, even though cloaks and robes and triangles are mocked now as trendy... I am not sure what else is left, visuals are of course as important as the audio really when creating something for the 'senses'

I think Gilead said this leaked a while ago, but I haven't found it anywhere.

Seeing them in a couple of days with Vanum and Sanguine Eagle. Yellow Eyes and Vanum put on killer shows

Not trying to be contrarian, but I think that artwork is great.
More importantly, really cool sounding band. Excited for the rest of this.

The artwork is... without really any focus point to me. It is not of the standard ilk to fit the style, but it is also nothing remarkable either by any stretch.

If that wasn't the covert to an album it could be the label and box brand to some manner of tea. Either or easily enough.

The future of album cover artwork of Black Metal when all offensiveness has been erased and contained and controlled by those opposed to controversy?

not sure if it's related, but the band themselves posted on their Twitter that they were giving out early digital copies to several individuals not necessarily in their circle, particularly musicians if I remember correctly. I can wait. But I do hope they come to the bay area soon.

I think the LP version of Hammer of Night has a pretty cool design. I don't mind the overall minimalistic, perhaps atypical approach to their artwork although it would be cool to see a really great illustration for a release eventually. Their music is certainly deserving of an equally intricate visual.

other than the new album, Gilead is also reissuing Hammer of Night and a compilation of Stillicide and The Desert Mourns, both on 12" wax. These should be out by the end of the year.

I really liked the desert mourns and hammer of night. Their last full length didn't quite sink in. Still, intested in hearing this album.
The cover would make a nice christmas sweater.
