I don't understand why anyone would want to listen to an insipid diminished chord played on a shitty rehearsal amp and repeated for 22 minutes straight. Guess i'm not depressed enough.

Probably around the time when "suicidal black metal" was something people took seriously.

So when was this? BM fans are extremely thin on the ground where I am, I didn't realise this whole internet community existed until a few years ago. Never noticed these trends

It might seem unbelievable now, but Kvarforth used to be one of the key players in the Swedish Black Metal scene. Even more so than Erik and Watain at that point. His label Selbstmord Records was a stronghold with new bands like Ondskapt, Craft and his own Shining. That came to an abrupt end around the time "III - Angst - Självdestruktivitetens emissarie" was released. He had pretty much lost all respect in the local underground due to his rip-off tendencies and ridiculous statements. But I guess his "concept" was popular enough to live on as a trend for a few years. Hypothermia was one of the bands that jumped on the bandwagon.

Yeah does seem crazy if that's how things were. I always got recommendations of Ondskapt but was initially wary as I heard Kvarforth was a member. Not sure if there is any truth in that though.
Is "Veins" rare? I remember wanting that for awhile because it annoyed me having only the 2nd and 3rd discs, but I could never really find it anywhere aside from once eBay where it sold for what I consider a stupid amount. Never even heard that album.

Unfortunately, it's not just a "BDSM" typo

Depressive Suicidal Black Metal

I really hate this label. Mostly used by shitty bands from South America or Germany.

Seemed like this band was the hottest thing for a while there and then completely fell off the radar.

New material is going to be released later in the year. Sound has taken a different direction from the older material (pre-Gråtoner) and something I wouldn't label as "dsbm" (which is pretty much the worst term for a sub-genre next to "blackgaze"). There's a Facebook page with updates regularly and whatnot: https://www.facebook.com/Vemodsorkestern

I got my tapes in december, when they were released. I think most people got their stuff, i even saw some of it floating around on distros for a while. You should send Kim an email if you haven't gotten your stuff.

However, i voted Köld. The pinnacle of DSBM, though that's not really saying much.

the only black metal bands I truly like from Germany are Katharsis and Bethlehem. Absurd is meh.

100% of bands that choose to define themselves as 'DSBM' are trash.

I do dig Drowning The Light, if they qualify, they always struck me as more aggressive than your average DSBM band. not sure if they define themselves as such, though.

Am I the only one who likes Skogens hjärta?

BTW, it's funny how every poll with the "XXXXXX is gay as faaaaaaaahkkk" ends in an easy win for that one.

I can understand why there are so many of those votes as I am thinking that some of those who voted have (1) never listened to Hypothermia or (2) have only heard small snippets or a few full tracks. This band has to be one of those listening experiences where you pay attention to the whole album and let it sink in, as is the case with a lot of 'DSBM' stuff. The monotony of music can only be appreciated in longer sittings.

I did, and I got a pretty rude response. I did eventually get half the order but I am still waiting for one of the tapes and the picture disk. No reply from the latest email I sent him about two months ago either.
