Any recs?

I don't know if my brain is so tunnel-visioned on the sounds of this album that I can't hear similarities in other bands, but I seriously cannot think of any albums with the same kind of vicious, technical sounds from NSV.

The Mystical Gate of Reincarnation and Sorcery?

But you most likely have those.

The Martire album is probably the closest I could think of.

But yeah, there's quite nothing like NSV. Most people that attempt to sound like it pretty much fail miserably.

Really is nothing that comes close to NSV although early Kataklysm does have a similiar feel, just not as evil

Nothing will ever sound like NSV, but the most recent Howls of Ebb album does have a similar spirit.

Agree... NSV is my favorite death metal album ever, with one of my favorite album covers ever, and Howls of Ebb my favorite current death metal band. A pity Cryptopsy went off the rails afterward.

Infliction "Denouncing the Flesh" (2004)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xx_tE9I2jc

Defacing (Chile) "Spitting savagery" (2005)
It doesn't get any closer to nsv then this...Hell, it even has a Cryptopsy cover, haha! Too bad the bad couldn't keep this style on their later releases...

Good recs so far, thanks everyone.

Martire and Abbadon are def similar, good call. I can see Howls of Ebb too to a certain extent, though I didn't really think about it before this thread and I listened to that album a lot this year. Kataklysm doesnt click for me, both as a NSV similarity and just in general, not sure why.

Last two suggestions: Infliction and Defacing, those have some real potential, damn. Gotta love those mid-2000s cover arts too

None so Live isn't Lord Worm on vocals. It was another guy named Martin. It was the only recording he did with Cryptopsy.

Anyhow, I can't offer much more to this conversation other than that I also think None so Vile is one of the best death metal albums of that era and that I like it a lot.

There is none. Been listening to it for 20 years, and honestly it is one of a kind. Nothing comes close.

One of the most insane and aggressive vocal performances ever. Hail Lord Worm. Reminds me... I had a friend who used to tag "Lord Worm wuz here" on random buildings/walls Laughing
