Posting stuff online when Stoned / Drunk always provides silly results.

This is not the correct answer, and You know it.
It's interesting to see the opinions of some of the elders on this board.

Not always, but in case of several persons, indeed yes. Like now.

Not an answer but related...

I bought a dead person's collection from the relative who inherited it. For whatever reason, the relative didn't want to do the work of getting rid of it. Some combination of not needing the money, not having the time for it, and the emotional burden I guess. He donated the money to the cancer center where the collector was treated.

Well some of the music will go to the Missus and the kids (the stuff they like anyway).
Anything left over will go to ebay (Because the Missus knows people love first press Black Metal) or the local thrift store.
I know I wont give a fuck....I will be drinking with Hanneman!!

"Collecting" is a lose term. These days it has a different meaning. People can find and buy whatever it is that they are looking for on eBay and other related websites. Even trading became a hassle because 9/10 people point you to popsike to let you know that their LP sells for more than your LP and you should include something extra in a trade.

I know I have mentioned it before but I still like going to second hand music stores and flip through records. Problem is that even the store owners ask eBay prices now.

Who do I collect for? Myself. I have no other reasons. I've been listening to music since I was a little kid and I've been buying records since late 1980's. Perhaps 'new comers' have a different reason but who can they really impress? I don't smoke, don't do drugs and I hardly ever drink. This is my passion and I don't mind spending money on music. I've been selling more than buying lately actually but I don't think I will completely stop buying at any time in life.

1. Have male child (that is if you are even able to fuck a woman)
2. Pass LP collection and patch vest to male child
3. Buy more records to ensure that is all male child is ever exposed to

Problem solved. ...and remember for most of you poor bastards, prostitutes are very unlikely going to provide you with a male child. Sorry.

This is actually a good topic!

Me, I would like to pass on my vinyl to either my child (I plan on having one) or my nephews ( I have 2 so far). Or if I don't get to have a kid and the nephew's are super normals, maybe some cool young person who helped my old ass along the way will get them?

I actually ponder this topic from time to time as well. Especially since a few month ago I acquired some very rare LP's at a used record store because the previous owner died. He left his collection to his brother who sold it to the shop.

I don't drink, do drugs or smoke cigarettes anymore (7 years off drugs/alcohol and 2 years off cigarettes) so music and collecting are my passion. Sometimes it's hard to not feel as if it's all for nothing because one day I'll be gone and so will my collection. I don't have kids and it's not likely I'll ever have any because I'm not the type of person that really knows how to socialize, meet women and be in a relationship. I'm one of those people that will likely remain alone. I think that's why from time to time I wonder what will become of my collection and if spending money on collecting is even worth it anymore. In the end though, music is one of the only things I can really identify with. I like to support the bands that create the music that helps me get through life.

I think I kind of strayed from the topic though. But yeah, all I can hope is that my collection would at least end up in the hands of an appreciative music fan and not in the garbage or something.
