It's a killer and underrated gem. A crown of thorns is still a crown.

"A killer and underrated gem" INDEED!
The best thing they have ever done.
One of the best and most ORIGINAL SOUNDING BM records ever.

More new bands need to rip that record off.
Come to think of it, SAMAEL should look into re-visiting that sound ASAP.

It's not just about the sound but about the songwriting skill, so I don't think that would work. Anyway it's obviously their best album and one of the best black metal albums ever. So bitter and resentful yet controlled and thought through.

Great album and I think that was one of the first black metal records I ever listened to. Blood Ritual and Worship Him are better though. I really like Passage quite a lot too, as for Eternal... I used to love that album a few years back, but I recently grabbed a reissue CD and my opinion is kinda mixed.

Ceremony is a disco album, but still passable and still pretty good despite the passed time.

flawless album because: catchy short songs coming to the point, great riffs and melodie lines, cool lyrics, strong production, below 40 minutes. simply their pinnacle.
I remember seeing them with that record coming on tour in 94: ALL 700 people in Essen freaking out and banging their fucking heads to baphomet's throne. now that was a powerful live-performance!! good times!

It's too hard to chose between the three first Samael albums, bu this one sure is a beast of his own. Unique and massive sound!

This album has a song called "Crown". There is nothing more to be said.
