Horrible drumsound. A lot of good songs and riffs here and there, but the drumsound ruins it. The drumsound in the first song reminds me sometimes on St.Anger. Terrible... this ruins the last good Slayer album.

That being said, they're still better than 99% of all bands.

And drinking piss is probably more preferable than eating shit.

Basic agreement here. It has an entirely different spirit, of imitating the past and not trying to add something to it.

I'm not sure what's wrong with sticking to a defined sound while still writing great songs and somehow staying angry after all those years. Maybe you should check out post Divine Intervention Slayer then? They definitely took the sound in a different direction...

To me, Divine Intervention reached a middle ground between the intensity of their early material and the more melodic South/Seasons years. I really like the subject matter as well, with the focus being on sex and death.

I think if you listen to South of Heaven, Seasons and Divine in succession, you might understand what I'm talking about? Or not, whatever. The songs just seem angrier and faster in general on Divine.

They change from time to time for me, but if I had to rank them right now:

1. Show No Mercy (never changes)
2. Reign in Blood
3. Hell Awaits
4. Divine Intervention
5. South of Heaven
6. Seasons in the Abyss

Swap the first two (I'm a die hard Reign in Blood junkie) and you're spot on. Divine is a much faster and more aggressive album than South and Seasons for sure

DIVINE is a BRUTAL and sick record IMO that is always overlooked.

My Slayer top 6 in order -
1. Reign in Blood
2. South of Heaven
3. Show No Mercy
4. Seasons in the Abyss
5. Divine Intervention
6. Hell Awaits

I think this transition was a mistake. Their more imaginative stuff always rocks harder.

This album is listenable but obviously Slayer going through the motions.

Ranking the non-live albums:

1. Reign In Blood
2. Hell Awaits
3. Show No Mercy
4. Haunting the Chapel
5. South of Heaven
5. Season In the Abyss
7. Divine Intervention

Everything else is useless.
