This weekend I've been listening to Galloping Through the Battle Ruins, Swallowed in Black and Individual Thought Patterns, and just realized that one of the things I like most about them is that the bass is very present and well played. What are some other good albums where the bass is not buried deep beneath everything else and where it doesn't just follow the guitar and drums?

Tankard's Heavy Metal Vanguard demo

Even though everything is really gritty on that one... the bass is fucking tits.

Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
Geezer pretty much rules on every Sabbath album he played on, but this is his best performance. Sounds especially good on the original LP, where you can hear the basslines more clearly. The remaster sounds more rumbly.

Marduk - La Grande Danse Macabre
Marduk - Rom 5:12

b.war was pretty good an LGDM, super audible and memorable basslines. devo is loud as shit on rom, but with less memorable basslines.
