The Konflict /Rotugf CD contains 5 bonus tracks compared to the tape release...2 from Reek of the Unzen Gas Fumes which never made it to their last LP and 3 tracks from Konflict that never made it to Konflict/Nechbeyth split which never came to be.

The reviews have been coming in...

Sputnik Music

Konflict / Reek of the Unzen Gas Fumes

Review Summary: The ultimate hymn to the power and complexity of dense, obliterating noise music.

Thereís something therapeutic about noise music. Thereís a reality in the idea that noise is the purest form of music, the way it surrounds everyone and fills up our lives. Itís often I try to make sense of the noise-driven rhythmic pulses of the world, of every day life. Listening to the ins and outs of the intricate sounds that fabricate every waking moment. And itís in noise music that I can find comfort in the looping, droning harshness. Although I feel the purpose may be to alienate or to hold deep underground, Iíve never felt that way. Noise is the sound of the everyman, the sound to which we can all relate. Itís pure and itís earthen and when itís done right it heals.

Konflictís brand of noise-infused grinding war metal is the perfect example of using harsh soundscapes to this advantage. The pulsing sound of the programmed drums and the heavily demonised vocals subjugate any concepts of ďrealityĒ to these sounds. These are sounds of unrelenting horror and as theyíre carried by muddy but eloquent guitar riffs, the listener can barely understand the effectualness of the programmed noise and fuzz thatís lurking beneath these compositions. With it comes a new level of sound that separates these songs from any other ilk in the underground that tries to create harsh and devastating metal. Konflict understand the influence of dirt and noise and grittiness in a way that most ďheavyĒ bands donít. This music doesnít sacrifice the integrity and the power of a good riff for the sake of unintelligible ďheavinessĒ, it embraces the aspects that make metal powerful and dips it in battery acid, leaving it to glitch and drone and bear down on the listener.

Reek of the Unzen Gas Fumes, however, take things in a different direction. They share many of the same elements; the catchy riffs, the programmed drums, the inhuman vocals, the noise--but they apply it in a vastly different way. Where Konflictís music felt oppressive and dark in its approach, Reekís music is much catchier and influenced by heavy metal in its grinding approach to the style. Much like you can hear the fun and infectiousness in the compositions of a band like Arghoslent, thereís no way of denying the darker and heavier undertones of such ďupbeatĒ heavy music. The themes and ideals are not for the faint of heart.

The way these two sides contrast shines light on the diversity of noise and its ability to be embraced in completely different dynamics. The sound of heaving earth that can represent any style, can be filtered through any vortex. What Konflict and Reek of the Unzen Gas Fumes have done with this album is create the undergroundís ultimate hymn to the power and complexity of dense, obliterating noise music and expressed its intimate implications with the aesthetics of metalís harshest subcultures.

Pardon my poor vision but how does one from the USA order from you? What is the cost plus shipping? Will there be distribution in the USA?
Thanks.

Sorry about the flyer...thought I'd keep it to the forum size default size. Simply just email me at mail@cyclopeaneye.com . As for worldwide distribution, it will take me some time to get to it, because I want to clear all the customers orders first...
