Yesterday I received an LP I had won on ebay a few days back.
The condition of the sleeve and vinyl is as described in the sellers auction post,no problem there.
However it did not include the lyric insert that came with this pressing originally, and it was not in either of the 2 pictures the seller posted along with the auction.
I know I probably should have messaged him and asked about it.
So.........is it the sellers responsibility to make note of missing sleeves, posters, stickers, etc. in the auction post that were originally included? Or should it be left to the due diligence of the buyer to ask questions before bidding?

Its possible he did not know about this insert, which is why there was no mention of it in the auction listing.

Buyer must ALWAYS do their own research and ask questions if any concerns are raised.

This!

And check if every copy of the record includes an insert. Some labels/bands have released records of which only a couple of the them are including an insert.

As a seller I was in this situation a few times. Someone won an LP then after receiving the parcel they message me asking "how come the original insert is missing?" Well jack-ass do you see the insert in any of the pictures? Even in the description I would only grade the jacket and vinyl. No mention of the insert.

And when buying a used vinyl at a local store you don't always know if it came with an insert. Trading or re-selling it later might get you in this situation. Sombre Records was really bad for not including inserts with every copy of the LP. Just one example.

Agreed, the buyer should always ask. Still, I always mention missing inserts and other issues when selling/trading. I'm always surprised when sellers don't do that, if only to save themselves from future disputes.

But I always ask before buying too.

This applies for Discogs and other private sales... but as a buyer, I usually ask for pictures before sending money... especially for rare items.
If the seller refuses, I don't buy.
