Although normally associated with commercial hip hop and mint juleps, Atlanta has a burgeoning underground metal scene, exposing the city's seamy underbelly. The sound is not as homogenous as the Bay Area or Gothenburg, but the attack is relentless. Perfecting their chops at legendary shows in warehouses, basement of art galleries, clubs and, of all places, a pizza parlor, these bands are ready to infect the world.

In 2012, my friend S.L. created Boris Records to document the Atlanta scene and to share this killer music.

BR01 -- Spewtilator -- Inhale Awaits. Neurotic, grinding thrash.

BR02 -- Mangled -- Sewer Metal. The underground gore metal kings.

BR03 -- Sadistic Ritual -- Hellish Mercenary. Thrashing necrolust.

BR04 -- Disfigurement -- Abyss of Hatred. Death fucking metal.

Previously only available at the Boris Records website and Deathgasm, the NWN! shop is carrying all four singles as of Friday. Do not miss this slice of the underground.

All hail the sign of Boris.

I've heard good things about Sadistic Ritual from friends down that way. I may grab that Hellish Mercenary if it's still available from NWN when I do my next order and check 'em out for myself.

Click through the link in the OP to get to Sadistic Ritual's bandcamp. I think the youngest of them finally graduated from high school.

As for Spewtilator, I know there are some recorded tracks that haven't been released and I've heard talk the Boris might put them out.

Coverage of the Atlanta scene in the local alternative weekly. Some of the prose had me rolling my eyes, but it is a good overview of what's going on here.

Disfigurement has an EP that is the final stages of pressing on CD and should be released shortly.

Sadistic Ritual just announced that they will be entering the studio to record a full length.

I know, right? I'm guessing that's what most people associate with Atlanta. That and Coca-Cola.

But there is also this and this and this.

The Atlanta scene is a vibrant beacon in the South. So many killer bands and people making it happen. Heard the unmastered Disfigurement EP and it slays

I can't wait to get my mitts on that. I only regret that Boris can't release this one on vinyl.

I didn't know this one had come so far along, but BR will be releasing a 7-inch by Death of Kings.

Is The Tabernacle still around down there? It was a pretty cool venue that opened after The Olympics left, IIRC. Pretty 'big' bands played there, but it was one of my favorite places to see a show.
