Hilariously over the top. I like them.

people who shit all over mortician, but didn't listen to them in the 90s are missing a lot of historical context.

they might not seem too thrilling now that every stupid band has mega-heavy pro-tooled to death production at their fingertips, but at the time mortician were a sort of next-level interpretation of the death metal aesthetic. i remember when i first heard them in '94 or whatever, my response was "holy shit!"

i haven't really listened to them too much in the last 15 years, but i think they are an important band in the lineage of death metal, even if people think it's too "dumb" now or whatever.

it's, like, dave lombardo honestly isn't really that great of a drummer in light of the technical advancements that have happened since, but one certainly owes him a bit of respect for south of heaven and earlier slayer, for example . . .

They seemed kind of neat at the time, but it was overkill with movie samples.
Definitely a cult band for horror movie fans into simple death metal.

I think hacked is by far the best. kool to see so many people like them. its too bad we'll probably never see any black vinyl re-issues of their shit (unless hhr does maybe)

For what it counts, the picture discs of Chainsaw Dismemberment, Domain and Reanimated sound all good enough. Would like to see Darkest Day of Horror, Zombie Massacre and The Final Bloodbath on vinyl though.

One of my all-time favourites. Chainsaw Dismemberment and Hacked Up For Barbecue are brutally fucked up.

That's my only gripe. Intros to a song are minutes long and the actual song is seconds long. Still, their demo + "Mortal Massacre" ep reign supreme!!

They work for me in small doses, their 7"es are good but ever since they started making albums it became boring fairly quickly. Perfect band for a 7" or Mini CD but not for like 40-60 minutes in a row. Waaay too primitive and repetitive to be enjoyed for a longer period of time, imo.
We played on that same festival that was linked with Nyctophobic, they also played their first ever Europe show here, good times.

Yay.
But I'd like to hear a new record with real drums.

This songs really blew ME to pieces at the time. This was for sure the heaviest band on earth back in the day.

Absolutely killer-sounding drum machine on this track.

I watched the clip that is on youtube, good memories, I'm still listening to the "Insects" LP from time to time.

Nay. There are good parts but overall the machine gun drum machine and overlengthy samples are a major turn off. Mortal Massacre is OK I guess but even that wasn't a keeper, there's better stuff around for me...
