What i'm not surprised is that most people already have made up their minds about it it... guess it makes sense since most people are in the only like the first couple albums or only liked the later necroticism / heartwork stuff. I think i'm sorta in the minority as I enjoy all their stuff more or less...

guess i'm also not surprised about the production.. that's to be expected.. as well as shitty drumming. Can't replace Ken, that's for sure.

Brutal!

I don't think I mind the production. It's the somewhat half-hearted riffcraft & songwriting.

Same with Gorguts: too much paint-by-number.

The only Carcass I really like are the demos. I'm not even a big fan of their first couple albums. But I like this a lot. Funny how tastes work...

Songs is great. "Surgical Steel will sound like the record that should have come between Necroticism and Heartwork" is a pretty spot on description of this sound. The production sounds like swan swong. As stated before, its more on the necro/swan + side of the scale rather the earlier work, which if you weren't a fan of before, you won't be converted now.

that one leaked song actually reminds me of the third Arsis album... you know, the one with the way overdone drums.

The one thing I could complain is the snare-sound, I would've preferred much fatter and more natural sounding snare for this.
