Ok, now that Roy has been banned would be great to finally discuss the quality (the sound, more specifically) of this release without any drama. I'm pretty sure some users here have received their copies already... any comment about it? Thanks in advance.

someone made a comment regarding side B and how it was causing his needle to move laterally despite it being a totally flat record. I can confirm this. The grooves are basically off center little and it couldn't be more obvious from looking at the record spin.

I played the side (he mentioned D) and I saw a slight movement but it tracked fine. There's no problem with playability.

this is what I was referring to (someone posted this picture in the banned list thread):

I checked every side and B was definitely the most off center. Everything does play OK, as you mentioned.

Is this "problem" on all versions of the vinyl, or is limited to a specific color (the first dude mentioned the lilac-ish color)? I'm assuming all would have the same issue, but who knows.

Anyway, I ordered it from Dark Descent and I'm hoping for the best. As long as it sounds good, I don't care if there's "needle swaying".

Until it damages your needle.
Also, if this is indicative of the quality of the pressing...

^for real. Risking damage to your cantilever just to hear a decades-old obsolete demo? lmfao. By all accounts, it's a shit pressing of so-so C-level DM put out by a nutbag. Pass....! The twat fucked up royally on the 1st cd press; while this mishap seems to be a manufacturing error, what do you expect from someone who can't even put out a proper cd? Sounds like he needs to be raising hell with the plant, but instead he spends his time arguing on the internet. What a moron.

Stick to second press CD version and you can't go wrong, I'm going to try and forget this vinyl ever came out.

Swaying needle will damage first off the vinyl due to the off center load. it will also end up damaging the needle which you will use to play other records, therefore damaging them as well.

it's a worst case scenario but verly likely.

It is still beyond me how one can run a record label and react with a meltdown upon notification of this problem. It is clearly a flaw in the pressing and I'm sure the pressing plant would repress them free of charge.

Not in Roy's Bubblehead, he'd rather send them out. I mean, only fuckheads will listen to the record, ruining their NM condition.

I haven't heard anyone say that the record damaged their needle. Matt Dark Descent said it plays fine and I trust his opinion, so we'll see. I'll check it out for myself when I get the record. I ordered it with some pre-order stuff so it will take a few weeks, but I'll post here after I spin it.
