I'm sure I am not the only one who has looked at names or terms in band names, album titles or song titles and wondered what they are or mean. This thread is meant to clarify some of these things.

For example; INQUISITION have a song called "Journey to Infernukeorreka." I thought they made up the word, but then the band AKERBELTZ released an album called Infernuko Erreka, making me think it's from somewhere or something.

Same with the EMPEROR song "Moon Over Kara-Shehr;" where does that name come from?

Google in 5 minutes

From Websters:

Basque infernuko (infernal). Additional references: Basque, Spain, infernal. (volunteer & more translations)

From another site, also Basque:

Erreka: A small stream or rivulet, commonly swiftly flowing in rugged terrain, of lesser length and volume than a creek; especially a stream that issues directly from the ground, as from a spring or seep, or that is produced by heavy rainfall or melting snow.

"Kara-Shehr
Means the Black City. REH Fire (31), 32-33, 36, (37-39), 40, 50-51, 56.
Aka: Beled-el-Djinn; Black City; City of Devils; City of Evil."

It's Lovecraft.

One time on her way home from work my wife went to the dollarama to buy wrapping paper for xmas gifts, but didn't realize it's literally in the shittiest part of the city and I warned her that she was about to walk through "stabby hobo junkie needle crackpipe shelter town" and she didn't really pick up on what I was saying and went anyway.....

She deciphered out that beautiful poetry quite quickly

"Infernuko Erreka" means Rivers or Streams of hell, it is in "Euskera" an ancient Spanish language, like the word Akerlbeltz that means Black Goat. all this terminology is connected with the Witches sabbath.

A most necessary thread indeed, i wonder what does "Apolokia" mean. I have searched all over the internet but could find nothing.

A Basque may take slight offense at having his language being labeled as Spanish. Wink
It has nothing to do with any of the the other languages spoken in Spain.

I remember "Apolokia" meaning something like "introduction".
The word didnīt pop up before Impaled Nazarene used it on their debut. They used lots of Enochian words on it BUT I couldnīt find that particular word in any Enochian list/dictionaries etc so I might be wrong.

It was used in phrases such as "Apolokian Race" "Apolokian Dawn" so I doubt it means "introduction" but thanks anyway.

Quote:
Two other of Lovecraft's colleagues (at least) also had access to the Fifth Narrative, Robert E. Howard and William Lumley. Howard remarks in his story "The Fire of Asshurbanipal", of "the ancient, ancient City of Evil spoken of in the Necronomicon of the mad Arab Alhazred --- the city of the dead on which an ancient curse rested. Legends named it vaguely: the Arabs called it Beled-el-Djinn, the City of Devils, and the Turks, Kara-Shehr, the Black City."

It's Robert Howard, not Lovecraft.

Hahaha! This is funny! I does not make any sens in english I guess, but in "Quebecois" french, "go shit" is litteraly translated as "Vachier!" which is our equivalent to "Fuck You!".

And "I am not a fish" means something like "I ain't no fool".

So, it means "Fuck You! I ain't no fool / I'm not crazy".
