Definitely. It's one of many records that deserves to be readily available with the best possible sound/layout. It's a shame a shit-house label like Back on Black ends up getting the license, only to fuck it up. The ADP version was indeed perfect, but I'm guessing the production cost was one the main contributing factors to it's limitation. It was expensive enough when it came out, but worth every penny.

Peaceville would have done a good job of it. The Panzerfaust and For Funerals to Come reissues I have by them are absolutely fine quality wise. The Burzum ones from BOB that I have are positively half assed in comparison.

Maybe BoB's license will run out soon? One can hope at least.

Well, if you are really interested, PM me as I have 1 or 2 copies of Funeral Tristesse that only have the Demo LP and not the Live LP as I had a few extra copies of LP 1.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when labels tack on completely useless live bonus tracks to reissues which A) decreases the quality of the audio due to more space on each side being used B) unnecessarily raises the price C) screws up album continuity (for those who are already well familiar with the release). If they add demo/ep tracks or unreleased bonus songs from the same era that's ok, however.

Completely and totally agree. Fuck off useless live tracks. And don't "improve" the original artwork either please.

One good (or bad?) example of these live bonus tracks is the Funeral (Nor) demo 2LP by The Crypt. Yeah the demo itself needs only one disc but then there is the second disc, making it a double LP, with live show that I'll never listen to. Useless as fuck.

A great example, I definitely would've bought that record if it were just the demo.

The Trappazat and Traitors Gate reissues on HR are good

Is the Relapse vinyl reissue of Repulsion's "Horrified" worth its salt? How's the sound here? Thank you!

And what's wrong exactly with BoB version of DMDS?
I hear people complaining about BoB all the time, but never elaborating. The few BoB LP's I have are good.

The sound doesn't do the album justice- I suspect it's sourced from MP3s. Compare it with the original or the ADP version and hear for yourself.

Some other really bad examples: Enslaved- 'Isa' and Emperor- 'IX Equilibrium'. Crap sound, bits missing at the end, and/or appearing on the beginning of the flip side etc. I also remember Burzum- 'Det Som...' sounding crappy but need to go back to it.

To be fair, they did a good job for the Absu DLP and Judas Priest- 'Roca Rolla'. They seem to be hit or miss in my experience.

They hardly care about the music they put out, anything they can get their hands on is good.
On top of that, they're called Back on BLACK, yet almost none of their releases are actually printed on black vinyl.

Basically it's a bullshit label trying to cash in by spreading cheap, half-assed re-issues of classic records.

Slightly different than the old Relapse CD with the bluish cover, but the old master didn't get violated. The re-release DCD has new the master too, If I am not mistaken, a bit more mids and high frequencies I guess, nothing too drastic.

It's remastered. A lot more compressed than the older presses.

Thank you! I'll steer clear of it then.

If I want some Misfits on vinyl is there a certain pressing I should be aiming for? Anyone know if any specific ones are regarded as inferior/superior?

NWN's Master's Hammer LP set

THIS.

The thing is fucking beautiful, the sound MUCH better than any other, an excellent mastering job spread across thick vinyl with more than enough room for the songs. Nothing too exceptional added, no book and the pictures are lifted from the original pressings, although the patch, poster, and turntable mat are all fun items.

Just turn back now. You need to trust me on this. Don't go down this particular rabbit hole.
