Just found an EP of an 80's band - more on the postpunk side of things - called NORDA. Joy Division-influenced, obnoxious and with some of the neo-pagan aesthetic trappings of neo-folk.

Some great bands posted here that I need to investigate more. Who would have thought we are such a bunch of homo's, hey?

Got this recently, odd Aussie band Lemon Avenue from early 90's

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TatVUjuvL0

Whilst not strictly 'goff', the band Fourwaycross are fucking class

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDI6qjittfs

Associated with Fourwaycross I think either by label or members is another band Doubting Thomas, who put out one album called 'Another Way Of Knowing' in the late 80's. Has been one of my favourite albums ever since I mistakenly purchased it for $3 thinking it was the Cevin Key-related band.......

Did not bother to read through all the pages, so not quite sure if Arcane Asylum was mentioned before me, but if not, better check them out!

Been digging on this band for quite a few years. Interesting change from Weakling to this. Did this band split?

Yeah, the band split up way back in 2002 after a couple really terrible tours and typical issues. Sarah from Weakling was in it switching to drums before I joined and they asked me to fill in when their previous guitarist quit (Janice from hammers of Misfortune), but then we ended up writing entirely new material by the time anything was released. A lot of the bass and drum parts already were written and I was listening to tons of Dolorian, This Empty Flow, Thergothon, Unholy etc. so I was sort of intentionally trying to blend that stuff with Joy Division/Bauhaus and steering far away from anything that might sound Weaklingish. Funnily enough we found the singer just through a local ad in he paper
and he ended up being the singer just cause he was the only person we talked that was at all on the same page musically. Two of the best alternate options were a black tranny dude who sang in a sort of King Diamond falsetto voice and some old rocker dude who's only influence was Def Leppard. I sort of wish we had done some songs with those people just to hear how fucked it would have ended up.

THE GAULT is fucking excellent, damn shame with this FTE business, but glad to see it was properly done on record by Vn.

I suppose everything worked out regardless, but man ... what a missed opportunity.

If anyone's interested Iceland's Brn just released their first LP.
It can be streamed here: http://borndeyja.bandcamp.com/album/s-t
Physical copies available from the band.

Love THE GAULT. Surprised to learn the singer was found through an ad. I think he fits really well with the music.
