Hi to all!

It's time to close this gap and I need your help.
Please note that I especially like the works of Mercyful Fate 'In The Shadows' and 'Melissa', then suggested me something of King who comes close to these two to begin with.

Hail the King Twisted Evil

Start from the beginning. Fatal Portrait and onwards.

Start at the beginning and go up through KD discography. "Fatal Portrait" then "Abigail" etc.

Everything up to The Eye. First two albums being the best.

Realistically, a Mercyful Fate fan would be best served easing his way into King Diamond's solo works with the album that sounds most like Mercyful Fate, which would be Fatal Portrait. Timi Hansen and Michael Denner both play on the album. After that, you might as well go in chronological order. Personally, I wouldn't stop at The Eye. I think The Spider's Lullaby is a great and underappreciated album. In fact, I like every one of his solo works. Abigail II and House of God are probably my favorites from the later albums.

People tend to never mention that Fatal Portrait is the album with the most falsetto King has ever recorded,
almost constant, just a heads up. I absolutely love the album, but for some the vocals might be a bit too much.

You mention Melissa and In The Shadows, hopefully you will/have checked out the masterpiece Don't Break The Oath as well.

Totally agree with Dodens Grav though, the whole discography by King Diamond is fucking solid as hell, so just go with the flow
and take your time with it.

Agreed on all points. Still, as with so many classic bands a lot of the 'newer' output is not as consistent as the phenomenal stream of early records (up to and including "The Eye"). The weaker King albums still shit on 90% of pretty much everything else of course.

Anyway, anyone into the King should be sure to check out "The Puppet Master", a musically and storywise absolutely brilliant album which is up there with the 80s classics imho!

Yes, start from the beginning. I love every album except for Abigail II, that's horrible.

I always kind of liked Abigail II. It's been a long time since I heard it but I loved the dark vibe the album seems to have. Some really great songs on there. "Mommy" is a sleeper of a track.

Abigail II is extremely generic and full of cliches.
