I can only think of a couple quality bands off the top of my head, one being Darkspace, which everyone's already aware of, the other being a rather obscure Russian band, Odor Mortis. For whatever reason, I've only listened to their second demo and first album, never investigated beyond that. But I must admit, I had a hard time selecting a track to represent them best. That's certainly the sign of a good band. Too bad I couldn't find the song on youtube... definitely a band that I'd mention in a 'black metal bands that deserve more attention' thread.

Don't be stupid: no norsecore, Marduk clones. Looking for epic riffs washed over with synths, insane screams, etc.

I guess this is really obvious, but The Celtic Winter by Graveland is the biggest early Emperor ripoff possible, and it's amazing.

I can't hear much of an Emperor resemblance outside of a few keyboards. Too slow, vocals aren't of the stroke-inducing, forehead-vein sort. Not bad though!

Setherial Nord was a good Emperor worship album.

Wodensthrone have always reminded me a bit of early Emperor, especially on their latest album.

Covenant - In Times Before the Light. Great debut, but put to shame by their later fishnet metal
