Bölzer without question.

Drowned's 2012 rehearsal tape was great too. Tribulation's newest wasn't bad, I enjoyed it.

I've yet to hear Beyond's effort. Just got the CD in from NWN! this week. Will be spinning it tomorrow, no doubt.

This x 100.

the beastial stuff doesn't do it for me

The Unholy Communion by Verminous sounds good from what I've heard so far, but I'm not sure if I'd say it's as good as Impious Sacrilege.

Sulphur Aeon's Swallowed by the Ocean's Tide really took me by surprise.

I can't add anything that hasn't been mentioned, but for me the best DM releases this year have been:

1. Beyond (really outstanding violent record)
2. Drowned rehearsal demo
3. Verminous

Gorguts, Autopsy (much better than the last one) and Antediluvian were all good too. I haven't played the new Ensnared enough to have a defined opinion yet, but it's very good.

Need to hear Ulcerate, Grave Miasma, Grave Upheaval and Katechon.

The Krypts album is still getting regular plays here as is the Ogdru Jahad. Fucking digging the Old Skin tape a lot too and looking forward to more by these guys. I'll check the Grave Miasma next year as I'm swearing off music buying for the rest of the year bar the Sickrites album Shocked

Antediluvian - λόγος is one of my absolute favorites of the year and might be my favorite Antediluvian record. I, for one, cannot get enough of the fucking hunched over knuckle dragging in the dirt pounding on dirt walls and eating mud vibes.

I also fall into the can't-get-into-the-tribulation-album camp. Though I try. I'll give it another listen-to today.

Love that fucking Portal record too.
I like the new Ulcerate record but it doesn't have the immediacy that I really liked of Destroyers.
Dig the Gorguts record a lot and think it's a gorgeous, mature record, and I think it's one my top ten of the year, but i don't think it's top five.

Nothing noteworthy IMO. All the debut albums have been disappointments.

Lantern, Drowned and Vasaeleth. Prosanctus Inferi is likely to make the list after I've been given enough time to absorb it fully. I find it hard to believe people are listing albums that haven't even been released yet though!

There is so much good stuff but Altars - Paramnesia will be one of the top ones.
