Any album cover with some idiot on make up doing ridiculous poses and pretending to be evil is an immediate NO.

(Old) Darkthrone and Mayhem did it right though. Satanic Warmaster and all the others "please look at me; instead of good album cover I decided to put a picture of ME" fags do NOT.

Well, I don't know what you do with your records but as someone who listens to them, I wish more labels actually did that instead of cramming as many songs as possible on one side of record to put some vile etching on the B-side. I mean, nobody cuts records like they used to in the 70's anymore and I believe spreading the music on various records is the best way to make sure the sound on the record stays decent. Sure, you have to flip the records but if you don't want to do that, buy CDs instead Smile

Beside crappy photoshop stunts on covers...
- latin titles and titles written with K instead of C and that VV bullshit (KATHARSIS and SAD EX being the only exceptions)
- Alpha/Omega Symbols used
- In general anything which smells "Un/Orthodox"

Give me b/w forest and castle covers over that anytime....

The Baroness guy's artwork

shitty digital photoshopped covers that are all so fucking uniform you can hear the overproduced click track pro-tools corrected to death trend fueled monotony within, this goes for Euro-mall black metal (that might have been good for one or two albums 20 years ago), kiddy thrash, boring fucking ass middle of the road technical death metal listened half heartedly to by old guys with children and fat XBOX playing losers, you know what it looks like

any type of porn or fucking goats or goat fucking - but there have been exceptions and this is where youtube and soundcloud help

anything with shirtless buff guys with Peter O'Toole haircuts, if you want to adore Ayran beauty put a damn woman on the cover

by making it look old on purpose do you mean making it look taped together or that tacky scratched up photoshop effect? I think a classic tasteful design is never a bad thing and shows someone in the band isn't a fucking idiot

Honestly I think most album covers look like shit, at one point I was very drawn to album art and now I don't even think about or even it look at it anymore, but a bad cover is always hilarious, but a well painted/drawn one can also be "so fucking what, whats the point"

If you've actually paid attention to those records you would realize that the grooves only take up half of the record on many of them - ie the grooves were still crammed like there are 20+ minutes of music on that side and not given the extra space. Lots of those records come from labels that pretend they care about vinyl - Earache, Back on Black etc.

Most of those records could've been cut as 2x45rpm's for better sound or spread over 3 (33rpm) sides for less hassle and similar sound quality.

This guy get's it.

Chick vocalists are usually a good sign of a shit sandwich.
Songs sung in French.
Faggoty band photos of faggots with big faggoty mustaches standing around in Victorian era clothes.

I don't think I actually own any records released on Earache or Back On Black, to be quite honest.

digital photoshop covers usually means one or more of:

- a genre i don't like (power metal, tech death etc)

- a clueless band

- a new shit record of a band that was once good

can't think of any record i have, or like, with such a cover.

I like some of the earlier death metal Behemoth stuff, and it had shitty photoshop art.
