My favorite Bathory song is actually on BFD - A Fine Day To Die.

The Return.. (of darkness & evil)
production is 2000 lightyears ahead
and TOTAL DESTRUCTION Black metal 1985!

most underrated Bathory is Requiem Lp imo!

It may not be the best objectively, but s/t will always be my favourite, so it gets my vote. Though The Return is a lesson in musical brutality, UTSOTBM is one of the darkest albums of the 80's and Blood Fire Death is one of the greatest extreme metal albums of all time!
In fact the first six Bathory albums are all classics.

15 minutes of pure black metal perfection.

Woman of Dark Desires takes the record down a couple notches.

When I first bought the record I was literally floored when Massacre kicked in. Fuck that fucker is fucking fast!!!

There is no right way to vote in my opinion. I can listen to each album by their release date or in any order and they all stand their own ground no matter what.

The Return takes this easily. It's so much better than anything else Bathory ever did.

I'm not a fan of their stuff from BFD onwards...just not my thing I guess.

A mediocre Thrash-album, properly rated.

The Return is the only record that I have collected all pressings of. The thing is BLACK METAL perfection, even the cover..so simple yet one of the best record covers ever!

Sure "The Return" is a great album, but I can't really understand all the people completely worshipping it saying that it's way better than the other three etc... Neither the production, the songwriting or the atmosphere on "The Return" is as good as on any of the other three albums imo...

The order in which I'd rate these would probably have to be: UTSOTBM, BFD, S/T, THE RETURN, though it's really, really hard to decide.

Yes, they are above the other three. Pure magic. As much as 'Call From the Grave' means to me, The Return is far superior as a complete album.
