I've only seen the last Darkthrone in this kind of packaging. I don't mind it. I can't stand digipacks, but I do like the packaging of Death In June releases.

Immolation - hope and horror also had such an super jewel case. I kind of likes it, perticulary the "locking" mechanism.

That looks fucking stupid... I think digipacks are useless, to me that's Nuclear Blast and Century Media related gay shit.

The case does appear to be a little more sturdy, however now if you get one of these broken you need to obtain extra's from a new source again instead of just using your girlfriends cases as spares. Cool

Probably what I hate the most is that the back cover has two large cuts into it for the hinge area of the cover.

As for the spines now on top and bottom, well kinda useless when placed in a shelve anyways. Wink

The locking cover is not bad I guess, keep the lid closed where as some regular jewel cases are not so solid when they are loose and flimsy.

They also fit two discs inside alot better as the inside tray seems deeper and the plastic tags for the cd are solid.

Otherwise just another gimmick I guess to keep the $$$ rotating.

I really like digi packs. Well done digipack with booklet is ten times better than normal jewel case Very Happy …and yes, they can wear very quickly but I think the same goes to vinyls.
All digipacks I have are near mint, only few bought second hand have some damages, same goes to vinyls.

this is really reasonable after more than 20 years of standard jewel case working... maybe they just wanted to give the CD format a new outfit while bearing it to its grave.

I don't think this new packaging would be half bad if it weren't for the back that looks retarded with the cut corners. At least that way if you wanted to switch to a regular jewel case, you could.

The only thing that bothers me is the fact that they seem to be hard to replace. But otherwise I'm not that bothered...

I used to work for a relatively large independent label, and super jewel cases were brought in to house 2 cds or a cd/dvd product in a single case- just everyone seems to use it for a single cd...

Death to digipacks- the worst form of packaging ever (other than all these drone/noise shitty art packages). I keep every disc from a digipack in a seperate jewelcase in order to prevent them getting ruined.
