Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 & I Care Because You Do

Any IDM recommendations? I love pretty much everything by Aphex Twin (Analord is just sublime), and really like Music Has The Right to Children. LFO is great too. But I've never found anything else on that level. I tried Amber by Autechre, pretty hermetic stuff but appealing at the same time.

I'd absolutely recommend Photek - "Modus Operandi"

It looks we've got here another youngster that never put an ear of Reign in Blood. Very Happy

Anyway, Powerslave probably. Or the first three MORBID ANGEL albums. Or IN SLAUGHTER NATIVE's Enter now the World. Some DEAD CAN DANCE records may fit too, especially Within the Realm of a Dying Sun.

There are many albums, even among the greatest, where one can't find a small part that can be tedious or repetitive. Perfect songs are another story of course...

Three albums worth mentioning that I did not see in this thread:

Asphyx - On the Wings of Inferno
Pentacle - .... Rides the Moonstorm
Soulburn - Feeding on Angels

Yes, I am an Eric Daniels/Wannes Gubbels fanboy (and proud of it)!

Flawless victory.

Monumental album but "Path of the Psycho" is pretty pointless.

I'm sure quite a few will argue with this, but in my opinion Satanic Warmaster's Strength & Honor is a 110% perfect black metal album.

as I wrote in my post,GRIDLOCK - TRACE.
GRIDLOCK - FURTHER
GRIDLOCK - THE SYNTHETIC FORM
BOY IS FICTION - BROADCASTS IN COLOUR
also CYBO - RECORDED IN A DREAM
CYBO - RENDERED SENSLESS
GINORMOUS - AT NIGHT, UNDER ARTIFICIAL LIGHT
KETTEL - MY DOGAN
SECEDE - TRYSHASLA
SECEDE - VEGA LIBRE
LUSINE ICL - LANGUAGE BARRIER
ANHEDONIA - DESTRUCTIVE FORCES
TOTAKEKE - ELEKATOTA: The Other Side Of The Tracks
SALTILLO - MONOCYTE
PLANET BOELEX - SUUNTA
PROEM - YOU SHALL HAVE EVER BEEN
PORT-ROYAL - DYING IN TIME
KATTOO - HANG ON TO A DREAM
DRYFT - VENTRICLE
DRYFT - CELL
VESNA - SNOW SENCES
NEAR THE PARENTHESIS - L'EIXAMPLE
and the compilations EMERGING ORGANISMS vol 2 and HYPERREALITY fantastic.
i dislike idm fans almost as much as black metal fans. they take pretentious, geeky, and obnoxious to a new level.

I think the most perfect metal album in my opinion is really the first maiden lp.
it defined the NWOBHM and was the fuel for countless bands to follow.
Same on top with Judas Priest´s British Steel.

genre wise
Thrash - Slayer´s Show No mercy
Speed - Exciter HM Maniac
Doom - St Vitus Born To late / Same (both pretty darn good)
Death - Autopsy - Mental Funeral (it doesnt get uglier than this!)

I would have picked about any Priest album before British Steel instead.

im also more a fan of the 70s stuff like Sad Wings of Destiny, Stained class, Killing Machine ect. ect. but you must agree, that when british steel came out it was the dawn of a new time in rock music.
I agree that it wasnt as revolutionising like the 70s stuff when Priest literally perfected the heavy metal sound of the coming nwobhm.

The perfect Priest album is Stained Class, no question.
