There's a preset for exactly that. Drop the audio in there, highlight it all, go to the FX dropdown menu and then under Change Speed (or could possibly be Change Tempo), use the option at the bottom of the popup window to Change to 45rpm, or whatever.

awesome! found it, is there any quality difference when doing it digitally?
or is it the same? (is software doing it without any artifacts etc.).

ok now listening at the right speed to celestia demp ep, sounds bad so far....

It will tend to sound bad or at least weird, because all that noise you get just from the act of playing a record has to be sped up or slowed down along with the music. If you had a purely digital file (i.e. a CD rip) of the same music, you should in theory be able to speed it up and slow it down as much as you like with no quality loss. But off a record, the surface noise, clicks and pops - all that is going to sound weird and offputting, I imagine.

Short version: I'd just re-rip it unless your original rip was super-clean with very little noise.

Agreed with that. If you are wanting the music for anything more than listening to on an iPhone with shitty earbuds, re-ripping is a better option than Audacity.

Definitely re-rip it, I feel like experimenting with this now, and 45 down to 33 1/3 too.
Have you got a media player than can play it faster though? instead of re-encoding it [transcoding?!] it may not sound as bad if it's done on the fly Question
