It's not the labels. It's the US postal service raising postage across the board and getting rid of surface mail.

But how comes that for example Relapse records have only
$7,00 Postage +$2 for each further?
Are they not secured/registered or such?

Don't get me wrong, i know that Postal Service fucks up with
the prices, cause in germany its almost extremly expensive to
send outside....

Yeah Relapse keeps shipping very low. It is a long time since I ordered more than one LP from them. But if you order more, and some preorders, they only charge you for the whole batch as one, but still send you the releases one by one as they are ready. But they do not use the quality boxes and wrapping that NWN does. On the other hand my Relapse stuff has always turned up in cool condition.

Relapse probably uses Media Mail instead of Priority Mail. I've had too many parcels go missing with Media Mail.

We will still be screwed a couple of months (or years for some countries) more before it all comes to "normal"...that's the way it works...you see, in crisis, some very few still make money...guess who they are?
Ah, well...I still have to make some more effort to keep on buying stuff...next year I will have to jobs, so I guess I do not need to worry about... Evil or Very Mad

I haven't really been effected. As long as I'm able to sell stuff I don't need on Ebay and keep some money in my Paypal account I buy usually whatever I want when it's released.
I have rarely used any money from the checkbook or household fund so my wife doesn't mind. She just went back to work after 2 years off, and even when we were living off my one pay check and our savings I still was able to keep enough in paypal to buy what I wanted.
I have stopped buying vinyl lately. I don't have the room for it or time to really enjoy it right now.

I have definitely been affected by the economy and it sucks.

On a brighter note (for the Americans):

http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?from=EUR&to=USD&amt=1&t=2y
^
EUR vs. USD over 2 years.

The price of EUR vs. USD is the same as it was this time last year ~$1.40. In May of this year (ironically the time I was there) it was ~$1.60 (the highest price in 5 years)

Here's hoping for an ECB crash to make those festival trips cheaper! Cool

I've always thought of buying LPs a decent way to spent money versus say DVDs, video games etc. Generally UG metal stuff on vinyl (or any "collectible" genre, punk, garage, noise, etc) is going to hold it's value better and some items of course will become worth more. A DVD (which I also collect) bought for $25 is worth $8 used and if you sell it to a shop you get maybe $2. Very rarely will a DVD go up in value or even stay steady with it's "new" price, even if it goes OOP. Video games, furniture, clothing, etc are even worse.

So, even if you don't agree with the "ebay retirement plan" mentality of record collecting, it helps justify spending more hard earned $ on new releases which helps the bands/labels/distros.
