Lately I've been into collecting tapes and CDs, but overall I think records (vinyl) are the most fun to collect - especially the DIE HARDS!

12" Vinyl is my lust. I like 7"s but find them a chore to play. 10"s are a nice happy medium.

You can't really beat the aesthetic value of a good looking LP. Things are lost when you shrink it down to CD size. I love how you can tell the Possessed logo on seven churches was colored using colored pencils. You can't replicate that kind of detail on a CD insert.

Tapes! Nothing can beat the cool simple xerox/dub and even pro tapes with glossy covers looks great. Also, you cannot beat the cheap price.

agree 1000%. I love 12" & tapes. My fetish was and will be vinyl box-sets! I buy CD's only if there isn't any other format in a particular release. I do love quality digibooks though!

12" vinyl here, and then especially I have a craving for 4-5 track releases for some reason in that format or albums split on 2 vinyls. No claustrophobia there!!!!

I prefer LPs. 7" to me is something I listen to when I get it but rarely dig out later do to the inconvenience. I dislike tapes. I had tapes growing up, plenty of now death metal classics which were destroyed, eaten, or fell apart. CDs are ok from trades but only vinyl will make me reach for my wallet. Also I like to collect DVDs of strange/sick/rare films and some books on odd subjects.

For "collector's purpose", I like pic LP's and tapes. My favorite format for listening, is of course vinyl.

I don't think 8-track tapes are very cool. I have a huge box of them in my house, stuff like Tull, Pink Floyd and 70's rock crap and pop.

Favorites easily are vinyl and tapes. Nothing else seems to really be that fun. I only buy cds if that is the only format that is available.

hey, what's up mack? you were right about this board being awesome.

btw do you remember that band Envenomed? their bass player towards the end was this old punk with glasses, named Francis. he was from around Dayton. he only listens to tapes and vinyl. doesn't even own a CD player. he's like 40 or something.
