I've worked around books most of my life - I was a Librarian for 8 years and worked in a bookshop for 4, so I have a pretty extensive collection. I think its around 7-800 titles and takes up most of the space in my house. A lot of it is my old university texts - books on Sociology,Anthropology, Philosophy and history. A fair amount of pulp science fiction, 40k novels and wargames rules, a bunch of esoteric/occult titles and a bunch of cooking books. |

I love old macabre fiction, from the weird tales school: HPL, Clark Ashton Smith, Robert Howard, etc. (really not a fan of what's happened with it since the 80s). I've got a modest collection of about 40 Arkham House books, most of which I've been lucky enough to find for relatively cheap. The midwest of America is a good place to buy cheap books, as long as you're patient and can look around a bit. Here's a few covers:
(that last one's some of my girlfriend's twisted horror comics)
Also, since some of you mentioned an interest in JK Huysman's La Bas, I'm including some pictures of a boxed edition I own from Paris, 1924, illustrated by Henri Chapront. It includes a printed set of the woodcut illustrations, which some of you who're into old satanic art will like:
(the above photos were supposed to be larger. if anyone cares, let me know and I'll post larger photos of the prints for you). _________________ "Great holes secretley are digged where earth's pores ought to suffice, and things have learnt to walk that ought to crawl..." |

Interested in your copy of La Bas for sure, where did you find this boxed edition? Is it in French/English? |

Top shelf = film, WWII, occultism, Fortean stuff
next shelf = some videos, H.P Lovecraft collection (picture 2), comics/graphic novels
middle shelf = random books, LPs/7"
bottom 2 = CDs, fiction
Not pictured = all the film books I have to use for work, as they're in the bedroom/office. |
