These are pre-orders, so what do you expect people to base their opinions on?...

This is a pretty opinionated forum, I've seen people argue about way less than a pre-order! Ha!

Seen many people ask about the source for these and they keep saying the masters are straight from the band. It also looks like the first album will have the original sound and a remixed remastered version of the album.

This might be a good start.. not too keen on BoB myself, but buying the originals is a (financial) challenge, so this is an option to consider.

I've compared enough BOB releases to counterparts (i.e. original vinyl releases) to say BOB releases are almost always just as good as any other company pressing vinyl.

Long story short: once upon a time BOB fucked up some Burzum records, and ever since then some people on this forum assume everything BOB does is awful.

Just last week I compared the In The Woods Heart of the Ages BOB vs the original on Misanthropy and the BOB actually sounds *better*

What does this mean? When this was reissued on CD in 1993* it was stated that: "Embalmed in Sulphuric Acid", "Blood, Pus And Gastric Juice" and "Suspended Animation" were completely re-recorded due to lost master tapes.
All other tracks were remixed and remastered.

(* the original release was in 1990, with the Joel Peter-Witkin cover)

Did they locate the original masters or is this the 1993 versions?

The original version was released on CD as well, I'd assume the audio from the new reissue was taken from that:

Im just assuming on this. On the pre order website it has it as a 2LP 1 is the remastered the other I have no idea but im guessing its the first version of the album.

I suppose what I'm saying, is that if the original masters were lost, at best they could just directly port over the original CD to vinyl? I don't see an advantage to that. It can't be mixed or mastered specifically for vinyl. It will essentially sound like the CD w/added the pop + hiss of vinyl on top.

No matter how much you twist it the fact is that nearly 100% (at least 99%) of vinyl releases are done with the method of sending DIGITAL FILES to the pressing plant! Somebody propably mastered the files in between on some horrible computer too? There are of course factories that do better job than others.

Yeah, most of the pressing plants can't even accept tape reels as audio source. The key thing is whether the guy who's cutting the lacquer is any good.
