I wonder will the DVD of the last Dissection show where they played most of Reinkaos ever get released?

I agree. Particularly, I find Jon's playing on this album very praiseworthy and inspiring as a player. Especially the leads and solos; it sounds effortless. Very melodic and musical. It's the small stuff like the phrasing, his vibrato, sustain of certain notes in passages, that give it that quality, in my humble opinion.

I like it. As a kind of satanic heavy metal album by a formerly excellent band.

For me it's no, I don't like it.
But thanks to its tour, I can see Dissection live and this is good enough in my eyes.

Well yeah, the word gets tossed around haphazardly like a bag of chips. Every other album is a masterpiece. The other day I swear I saw someone saying that Hate Forest's Scythia is one of the greatest black metal albums of all time. Jesus!

Well, with so many options to vote from, it's really not that hard to understand why some 50% find the album to be a "masterpiece".
Roll the dice-votes are much more realistic.

It's a good album, that's it.

Agreed. The solos are very tasty.

Reinkaos is Jon's most passionate album. The vocals and leads are full of heart. Not every song on it is a winner, but the best songs are unstoppable. I am a great fan of each Dissection album, but I listen to Reinkaos the most.

There is a lengthy interview (the last one ever?) with Jon in the Swedish language book “Blod eld död”. He makes it perfectly clear that a more traditional extreme metal sound was always out of the question (“NO fucking blastbeats!”), because he was so disillusioned with the people in this scene that wrote about satanic concepts without taking them seriously. This would most likely have been the case even if the album had been recorded in 1998, as was originally intended.
The album is incredible, albeit with a less than great production. If you seriously believe that it was inspired by In Flames or similar bands you really don’t understand metal as well as you think that you do.
