I agree, although I do think the Suffocation logo is great and is a rare case where a logo looks good over a painting. That logo seems to not get in the way of the art. I love clandestine, but my edition has that logo
covering half of the artwork, same goes for carnage.

That Carnage CD with the huge purple logo is such a shame - the vinyl was way better with the smaller logo. Speaking of which, THAT cover is one of my favorites by Seagrave. I also am really partial to "The God That Never Was" out of later Seagrave stuff, and Morbid Angel's "Gateways" cover (the full painting that you see when you unfold the insert).

I haven't heard about that, just know that Kris Verwimp did a book showing some of his artworks.

I second Ten Commandments. Heavy as all hell, that cover.

Interesting aside: Dan Seagrave apparently spends much of his time outside of his native England residing in Toronto, Canada. Years ago I wrote him to ask about doing some artwork for my old band. It turned out that we lived on the same street, me at #2037 and him at #2190. Bizarre coincidence.

The Key will always be my favorite for its size and the level of detail.

In the year 2000 I took a bunch of acid outside by a campfire, and I saw the "Seagrave faces" all around me on the ground, in the trees, etc. The entire world turned into Altars of Madness, but in dark greens and in liquid-like motion. It was so awesome that I never did acid again.

Can anyone confirm this? That would be incredible. Seagrave is easily my favorite artist (for album covers at least).

Also, are any of you guys from Europe familiar with Jacek Yerka? This guys imagination and attention to detail are astounding. I thinks he's from Poland. I'm pretty sure I saw some shitty melodeath band use one of his works as their cover but I can't remember who it was.
