Name 3 of the best performances you ever witnessed. Bands not scared to reproduce (or even involve) what they play in studio!

Morbid Angel

Secrets of the Moon (2004 tour w/Watain. But now it's less esoteric)

Arkhon Infaustus (last time I saw them with Revenge and Angelcorpse, it was incredible, far better than their studio releases!)

DESTRÖYER 666 (ALWAYS)
SABBAT/METALUCIFER (WACKEN)
HERETIC (ALWAYS)

DESASTER (1995-2001)
MAYHEMIC TRUTH

AND A LOT OF MORE BANDS, OF COURSE...

EDIT: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE JUST TO NAME 3 BANDS!

This often depends on the sound of the venue.

Metal Inquisitor (by far! Hellbangers 07, perfect performance, no mistakes, very rare for an ug band)

Slayer - seen them only 4 times but always very precise, very few mistakes.

Sacrifice, reunion show! What a reunion...!!!

According to bootlegs, yes, nothing can beat Desaster era Okkulto for me.

Lugubrum/Breendonk '04
Best possible playlist, best possible sound, best possible atmosphere,...seen Lugubrum a few times but this was just mindblowing

Darkness/Keep it true '06
Reunion gig, and final gig, of these German old thrash gods. Playing almost the entire death squad album. Again fantastic atmosphere, great crowd,...

Too much competition for the third place. Honourable mention to Dead stop though, their shows were always one big party. But hardcore so don't know if I can post this here.

Björk in Pori Jazz 1996 & Björk in Ruisrock 1998.
Samael (the tour with Rotting Christ & Moonspell).
Entombed (with Dismember & Amorphis in Lepakko, 1993?).
Edit: Ok, noticed the word metal in the question heh.
The third could be any of Barathrum's gig that I have witnessed. Even though some of the later albums are lacking in intensity, live they have had that intensity.

Sadistic Intent at the Headbangers Ballroom.
- Just incredible.

Immolation in Groningen, 1999 (I think)
- First time I saw them, brilliant tour anyway.

Matter of taste, I preferred drinking when they played on that tour. Wink

Malevolent Creation at the PSOA 07
- Never saw them before that date, for me they radiated all the hate and agression present on the first two records, argh!

i was rather disappointed after that gig, but maybe it was just coz i do not like the location ballroom at all and i kinda could not stand all the guys babbling how great wacken was the year back then. Twisted Evil

great live bands?

can not remember the year, but it must have been about the release of "carved in stigmata wounds"... literally magickal gig of secrets of the moon in annaberg. other than that marduk on the winter war tour in 1995 and reverend bizarre's farewell gig in itzehoe including "1, 2, polizei" chorus. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

Headbangers Ballroom admittedly is a total shit location - due to the mongo-owner Necros Christos refused to play that date.

I rarely pay attention to other people attending gigs or their chit chat, so no distractions for me. Wink

I wish there were more good Old School Metal bands coming to IsraHell Confused
Anyway, the gig I saw and liked the most was Destruction's gig here in Israhell in 2005. Great set list of classic stuff, less new stuff and only the better songs from the recent albums, killer sound, very energetic performance... And I can't recall any mistakes... Just total fuckin' destruction!
