Kind of a strange question, but can anyone here reccomend a reliable music cataloging program? I want to start the massive task of cataloging all of my demos, vinyls and cds into a database that I can export as a Excel or HTML file (or something similar).
Does anyone here have something like this?
It needs to be fairly simple and user friendly, as I think that I am going to try and convince my wife to do some of it for me... har har har |

Im using Open Office with such to Excel aplication and interface. Very easy sorting by band name, genere, country, year etc, fast adding. Try it. _________________ http://dementedomen.org/ :: https://www.facebook.com/dementedomen/

Why don't you use Excel if you already have it? |

Expect hours upon hours of frustration when you can't find a year a certain album was released, if you can't decide if Mercyful Fate is now more of a swedish band, this kind of crap.
If you start from scratch, I say DON'T FUCKING DO IT and go to the pub instead. That's much, much more rewardeing I tell you. _________________ Into the Menstrual Night We Go-o, Hey-Ho, Hey-Ho...

I used to use it a few years ago, but a guy from work suggested that I use some kind of organizational software (he uses something like that for his DVD collection). I had a look on the internet and found a bunch of programs, but still had the feeling that Excel might be better in the end as I don't have to use a pre-set template or some bullshit interface. I was just curious if anyone here had any other suggestions.
OK, looks like I'll stick with Excel then. |

HAHA! Yes, I know that feeling. I gave up trying to catalog all of this bullshit about 8 or 9 years ago. I used to have a real fucking headache trying to decide the release date of demo collection cds and shit like that... should I list it under the individual release dates of the demos, or under the release date of the collection? Fuck that... I think that this time I am not going to be such a fucking nerd about it all and just simplify the whole process.
In any case, I'll need to drink a lot of alcohol before I start and correct all of the spelling mistakes the next day |

Use Calc from OpenOffice. Same as Excel, easier to use, and can handle Excel files too:

I've tried 3 times cataloging my collection... but with no success.
That's an absolute pain in the neck and I guess you have to be a total masochist to complete such task _________________ Good traders: 0%cured, Cutterofgums, s.charlach, peterott, ins88, Mysticus, HELLTHRASHER, CR99 |
