He also said thers exist some old horror legends about some italian metal bands....

I dont hear too much "horror stories" about polish local bands or about bands from other countries (ok, besides norwegian black metal he he). Stefano says something about some paranornal, local legends about italian metal bands, but dont want to continue this topic. Maybe HK Blasphmer and Cultofvomit can say more?

ha ha, yeah it is true for all countries! Actually last time D666 toured Australia they played to 5 times the amount of people that would see them before they relocated to Europe. But that in itself is an intrinsically Australian thing.

very true, death ss isn't popular cause is common among metalheads think that they are source of bad luck
the only "legend" I know was that paul chain lost his eye in a black mass, the truth is a car/motorbike accident. her wife told me that when I saw death ss in 93
bulldozer isn't very popular either cause they actually desappear when the scene was very small but their concerts were so great, I saw them in 1989 and it was a total blast
about mortuary drape I don't know any particular "occult" story. widerness perversion told me that in early 90's osmose wanted to sign mp but they must stop using corpse paint after one album, he also told me that mika luttinen asked him to meet and do a black mass/ritual or something

hahahaha the founding member of witchtrap (turkey) once had taken part on an amateur horror movie with all those spikes and corpse paint, etc
after the shooting session in the forests, he went deeper into the woods to take a shit, where he came accross a little kid who instantly yelled in fear and ran away screaming.the next day, the local newspapers had headlines like "peasants looking to find the 'perverted killer' in the woods", heh.

That is fucking hilarious.

In my opinion Necrovore is the most interesting band in regards to these type of "stories."

I'd imagine Death SS was huge in Italy, due to the (seemingly) good distribution they have there. Nearly every Italian record shop who's websites I've looked at had Death SS stuff and they newer live shows seem to be big on production value.

Not to mention, their new shit seems to be pretty modern and mainstream.

Actually this is also exactly what I heard from my Italian business partner (ex- metalhead from 80s/early 90s). He also told that he did not have any Death SS album anymore because of the bad luck or smth like that.

I remember hearing a rumor Paul Chain gouged his own eye out, now i see it again but as an accident

The old Mortuary Drape legends wouldn't be for talking about on a public forum, right?

Why not? Is there a difference between gossiping online and offline?

Had the same impression. There is a Vampster article saying the band is known in Italy but rather ignored in other countries like Germany. If anyone cares:
