Ah, extreme jealousy ensues. Seeing them during the 'Patient OT' days would be one of those if-i-had-a-time-machine scenarios.

EDIT: Absu in '01 was one of my favourites, at least Metal-wise.

You must be talking about Ziggy's. I think that place is closed now. Anyway, I was at that show as well.

First show was David Lee Roth on the "Skyscraper" tour with Poison opening in '88. 12th row on the floor. Diamond Dave rode a fucking surfboard through the air over the crowd and Steve Vai played the triple-neck heart shaped guitar - made it fucking SING the national anthem. My 9 year old mind was sufficiently blown and my life ruined... And bless my fuck, the rock sluts!!!

Queensryche on the "Empire" tour with Suicidal Tendencies opening. Queensryche did the whole Mindcrime suite and Suicidal played "Send Me Your Money". Fuck yeah.

Clash of the Titans at Lake Compounce amusement park in Bristol, CT the summer after seventh grade. Shame I didn't die immediately following this... life never got any better.

Danzig on the "How The Gods Kill" tour with Kyuss opening at the Palace Theater in New Haven with maybe 100 people there. First time seeing Danzig, who were and probably still are my favorite band. Chuck Biscuits played so hard, he knocked a tom off the big-ass skull drum riser. Gargoyles on pillars on each side of the stage and constant low-rolling, red-lit fog. I expect Hell will look somewhat similar. Kyuss ruled. Why did I have to be such a late bloomer with the reefer? I've got a great cassette bootleg of Danzig's set.

Danzig / Type O Negative / Godflesh at the Roseland Ballroom NYC '94. I'd just heard Godflesh's "Pure" a week or so before and walked in thinking "sweet - they're playing Godflesh over the PA" and then saw them on stage... Crushing. I think I eyeball-raped half of Brooklyn's female population. Amazing night.

Morbid Angel on the. "Domination" tour with Grip Inc. opening. Dave Lombardo let us in for soundcheck and I interviewed David Vincent for my old cable access show. I'd never seen a band play with such conviction and HATE. Killer show.

Deicide / Broken Hope / Vital Remains at Club Babyhead in Providence '95. Fucking evil atmosphere. I've got pics somewhere. Bootlegged Deicide's set, too.

There have been no good shows since.

Maybe Neurosis' anniversary show in Brooklyn last year.

I'm actually being serious about seeing Morbid Angel in 1987. They were supposed to play at a club in Charlotte NC that night, but for some reason the show got cancelled. When my buddy (he knew the MA guys from work) and I found out about the cancellation, we ended up going over to their house and watching them play an impromptu "gig" in their living room in front of a handful of friends. A night I'll never forget...

Yeah it was amazing... funny too considering they were considered 'slick' around that Tabula Rasa era. They didn't set the stage on fire or escape via a newly created hole in the wall, but it stood the test of time for me in terms of an amazing spectacle.

Oh, I forgot Diamanda Galas... that was fucking phenomenal.

I'm turning green with envy. I really am! Would love to see Galas and DCD still this life.

Just out of interest. What's the audience like at a Galas show? Must be quite a motley crew.

How was SepticFlesh? They're supposed to be playing a show by themselves in Spartanburg SC next month. I'm thinking about driving down there to see them...
