This idea is what I appreciate. Unfortunately it causes only troubles at the moment, as our rooms are to small. Hopefully soon we will get bigger rooms and one room alone for (my) vinyls only + more of these IKEA "expedit" shelfs. Right now it is nothing but a mess here...

I have had the expedit for a good 5 years or so.... they are great, though yeah get a little wobbly when moving too much. Next time I think wood glue is the ticket. I do like those glass fronted numbers though. Will check those out next time I am visiting IKEA. Hats off to a company that makes shelves that suit records perfectly!

I'd like a nice vinyl storage unit. But until then I will just justify not having one by saying real Metalheads keep their records in milk crates.

Two 5x5 Expedit and two 2x4 Expedit is the deal here, well stuck to the walls and between themselves. Nothing's more stable.

You call that a mess? Looks really good to me.
But of course, those with a vast amount of room can have such organization.

This acutally is not a mess, but the rooms here. The black boxes in front of the "expedits" bother me the most. I need further two expedits, but there is no further room/space left. You do not see all the other boxes and our bed in the middle. THIS IS A MESS!!!! We need at least one more room, better two.

The problem is you've got a lot of empty, unused space ABOVE your records. You need to move upwards. That's the flaw in your system.

Yes, but I do not want to use the expedits to putting the vinyls into them (like my wife is doing with her vinyls (see picture). I want to have the vinyls like in a record-shop to skip through them, not to read the titles at their spine. The walls are clean, because we have prepared them for a move that we want to do asap (but which didn't happen yet). I think we will put some posters on it soon (again)...

I like the idea of being able to flip through the vinyl like in a shop but it takes up a lot of space unfortunately.

Looks like a pain in the ass for CDs.

Not bad, though: all 4 F.A.O.D. die-hards.

Pretty much sucks even more for LP's as you can't 'flip' through them... Difficult to get them out and back in as well too...

Once the single boxes are a 100% crowded...yes.

I use that good old expedit either, but I'm leaving about a fist-sized empty space in each box so I can actually get the vinyls out and back in there without any trouble.
