Was at a friends party, several people into metal were there and my friend invited his music school friend. Music school friend only listens to jazz and meshuggah but talks to me. I brought up Motorhead to which he replied: oh yeah that guy Lem I made a couple cool songs 50 years ago", didn't know he died, couldn't even name Ace of Spades and seriously pronounced it the way I wrote it. He then babbled about Maiden but could only talk about Number of the Beast. I told him I liked Children of the Damned and Hallowed be thy Name more than the title track and he gave me this look so I asked about other Maiden albums and he just kept repeating stuff about Number of the Beast. Then I brought up Sabbath and he said: "yeah they're kinda heavy for a band no distortion or growled vocals" It was at that point I debated tossing him into the bonfire located nearby.

My dad was a high school teacher and would always troll me with this shit. One year for Halloween he took some clothes of mine without permission (leather jacket, crimson moon shirt, heavy boots) and decided he was going to be “me” for the occasion. On another night he brought over his co-workers for dinner and asked to borrow my By The Blessing of Satan LP so he could scare the shit out of them. He also mentioned that Taake guitars sound like horse mating haha.

Your dad sounds awesome.

Yeah, great dad Laughing

the best metal related thing my dad ever did was tell me about the time he met Ronnie James Dio while he was visiting his friend who had a late night metal radio show in the mid 80's in the L.A. area and Dio was a guest in the studio.. The story from my dad goes like this "I met Ronnie James Dio once. I still don't know who the fuck he is".

Do y’all really talk to this many people with shitty opinions about metal music or is this pulled from the internet? I snuff out most convos after small talk let alone let someone ramble on about Venom not being black metal or post shoegaze black metal....

This! I hardly ever stumble into conversations about metal with random people. Better avoid the topic at all cost except with the "trusted few" to escape this stupid shit.

Ot; back in the heydays of 94 or something the police came to a parental meeting at my school and handed out checklists to parents about how to spot satanic behaviour. Doc Martins=devil worship.

Not metal, but a early garage/psychadelic Zamrock band. I think i read about them being a big influence on Goat among others.
And W.I.T.C.H. stands for We Intend To Cause Havoc, haha.

I think they got some really good riffs, and they're most definitely better than that American one man band Goatswarth that they did that split with, yes. And oh, he's also black. He also has this ambient/folk/whatever project called Trollkjerring, which has it's moments.

Once after my old grind band played a show the bar owner came up and started talking to us, said he liked the "System of a Down" kind of thing we had happening. Afterwards I was torn between thinking the guy was a moron and feeling pretty devastated that we might actually sound like SOAD.

Yeah, back when S.T. were on fire, Rocky George was untouchable in his solos, leads and overall finesse.
