There's a record store near the main shopping district somewhere around Andrassy Ut near St. Stephen's basillica, which stocks SOME metal, but not much. They did have the latest Twin Peaks sountrack on vinyl there, which is quite rare...! Fucking expensive though.

I also highly recommend going to Menza by Oktogon (hey, kind of Bathory-esque..) for awesome simple gulas and a pint... very nice.

And Tratoria Pomo Doro is IT/HU restaurant - REALLY good....

Cafe Gerbaud is AMAZING but not kvlt at all, unless you count great coffee as kvlt..

DO NOT go to Margaret Island - all under refurbishment. Total waste of energy.

Mentioned record store is Wave, few metal, more synthpop, wave, ska, punk etc. Not a bad shop but yeah pricy.
There is CD Pince, metal only better for used CDs, located at Nagykorut next to Kiraly utca.
Headbanger at Muzeum Korut, lot of vinyls but pricy too, better to check thsirts there.
City itself is good for partying, metal pubs not many, party places, bars, cafes a lot.
Gozsdu Udvar or Deak ter always full of people at night.
Vajdhunyad Castle is a must for a metalhead with its Lugosi and Anonymous statues. (Cool story about the latter, he was an unnamed Hungarian historian, Yasuyuki of Abigail when first seen the statue was asking: wow who is this cool necromancer? Very Happy you can imagine how metal it is.
Buda Castle and Mathias Church on the Castle Hill both a must.
I think you can spend a week here without getting bored. And luckily girls are hot here too. Smile

The manager of Manowar runs a euro-trash bar right in one of the main tourist-y areas, has a bunch of manowar memorabilia/paintings/pictures in the back, not a great bar but totally mandatory to at least stop by and have a beer and watch the madness of a poorly run business ensue.

Among the very best cities I've ever been to.
Been there twice and planning a third trip for ages now Laughing

With all these "kvlting here and there" questions I think people shouldn't care so damn much about Metal related stuff when visiting another city
but rather check out what interesting stuff these cities have to offer in general.

Apart from the beauty of the city itself, the nightlife really has a lot to offer if you are tolerant of "regular" bars (the Ruin Pubs for example)
and some clubs with electronic music/techno. Unfortunately all the names escape me.
Hungarian is a really twisted language Very Happy

And then there are the girls...as cliched and needy and stupidly sleazy this may sound, you rather better sit in the street drinking a coffee
while beholding this female beauty instead of flipping dusty records in a record store Wink

Just do everything Buttman did when he was there.

There was a great spa type place in the park I remember, lots of saunas and steam rooms and mineral baths, very relaxing day was had, this was a while back.

And the women are incredible for sure, it made me fall to my knees and weep with joy that I was a straight man.

Maybe the Turkish bathhouse? We went there, it was touristy but had a great relaxing day there, highly recommend going through the actual 12-step mineral bath or whatever if you do go.

Actually there are many spas/baths in Budapest.

Without doubt best is the historical Szechenyi Spa, but there is Gellert, Lukacs, Rudas and some smaller too. All recommended.

Be careful with Rudas though. There is a rumor that there are certain 'male-only' nights. The real hot shower.
