I couldn't find a thread that already listed info on this topic.

I need a new way to organize my growing collection. Any suggestions?

I've heard IKEA is the best, but when I went to their site everything seemed like it didn't hold a lot of weight or was slightly smaller than the dimensions needed for LPs.

I have an Expedit shelf and about 1000 lp's. It works beautifully.

Yeah, the Expedit shelves are the standard. They come in several different sizes. This is the biggest...

Don't be frightened by the horror picture circulating on the internet. Just make sure you build it correctly. Not a bad idea to use wood glue at all the junctions.

Shit, I still have all my LPs lined up on the floor using my speakers as bookends. It's a shelf that can continue expanding as long as I don't run out of house (which actually could happen, hehe).

I had a couple of questions for anyone that already has one of the Expedits.

It says that they weight sustainable is only 29 lbs., I'm assuming this is per box on the unit?

Also, most book shelves like these only support each tier with tiny metal nubs, which fucking terrify me that the shelf is eventually going to come crashing down. Is this true with this one?

Thanks for the advice dudes.

The expedit is held together with little wooden dowel type things. someone mentioned using wood glue at the joints and I think this is a good idea, as my expedit has some problems with keeping a tight fit between the pieces. still it holds up really well and has not shown any signs of collapsing or buckling.

you could also get cinder blocks and some boards at your local hardware store and make some ghetto shelves. i used to use that method and it works fine.
