The cover image looks oddly dark. Is it also printed on both sides? The backside must have the statement printed.

Black tape also makes me thinking it's just a dub made by some shady guy.

Not too fond of Absurd, but weren't original copies sold with a glossy inlay? This looks like it was printed on basic printing paper or some sort of cardboard.

The original post says it's glossy, maybe the photo just doesn't look that way.

Tape doesn't look right. It's a blank no-name tape, as far as I see, but in the 1990ies the tapes used for dubbing were the ones produced by BASF, Sony, Fuji, etc., and they were branded accordingly.

Also the insert looks questionable. It used to be a pro-printed, glossy one.

The tape itself definitely doesn't match an original.
Also, despite the description of the cover beeing glossy, it still doesn't look correct. Looks like a well-made dub, so most definitely not original, even if the seller believes so himself.

Apologies for high jacking your thread OP, but I’ve had concerns on this Absurd tape for awhile now and was hoping for some insight.

The Thuringian Pagan Madness Tape is definitely NOT original. I also followed his auctions and quite some of the stuff he sold as 'Cassette is 100% ORIGINAL!' were in fact dubs/bootlegs....

These were his auctions:

https://www.ebay.de/sch/wintermass/m.html?_nkw&_armrs=1&_ipg&_from&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2046732.m1684

and he also used another account:

https://www.ebay.de/sch/juliagreine-0/m.html?_nkw&_armrs=1&_ipg&_from&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2046732.m1684

But as he is registered as a professional seller on ebay it should be no problem for you to send the tape back and get a refund.

I agree on the insert being of dubious authenticity, but the tape is the main "question mark" of this whole thing. You're right saying the most common tapes back in the day were the branded ones produced by big companies such as BASF, Sony & Fuji, but I remember unbranded ones were sold in stores too. They were actually cheaper than the branded ones since the fact the branded ones had those big companies' names printed on the shell represented some sort of "quality certificate" and were, therefore, more expensive, or at least that's how it was around my area during those years.
