Gotta go with Heaven Shall Burn on this one. Has the classic 90’s abyss studios atmosphere with great riffs.

Secrets is close behind though.

Leaving the negative connotation of the term aside, Nord is my favourite of the albums listed.

A glaring omission in this thread is Niden Div. 187 - Towards judgement. Pure hatred!

I was very into that aspect of the album at the time, The Black Tormentor of Satan has some nice bass work for such a straightforward song

Exactly. Morgan's riffs were always quite simplistic, so Bogge's bass playing really elevated the songs. It makes me wonder what Plague Angel would've been like had he not been absent. Perhaps even better?

Good call, I had lost interest in them and only reluctantly checked out Plague Angel and it was like a new band again, I’m trying to imaging Life’s Emblem with some extra bass stuff and it could have worked

Blot Mine, formed by former members of Setherial and Sorhin, hasn't been mentioned yet, but they certainly fit the bill.

Surprised to see that band being brought up. I had almost forgotten about them, but I do recall "Porphyrogenesis" being a killer album.

+ In Battle's self-titled (1997) and Blackwinds’ The Black Wraiths Ascend EP (1999). Also by the members of Setherial and great releases.

+ Legion – Bloodaeons (demo 2000) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXOiZQEMr1g

Only one on the list I spent a fair bit of time listening to is Nord.

If early Keep of Kalessin counts at all then I listened to the first two by them more.

Definitely.

Dawn’s Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy) is another album done at The Abyss featuring non-stop blasting for most of it’s duration.

Legion (later renamed The Legion) released a demo back in 2000 called "Bloodaeons" that I suppose would fit into this category. The only release they spat out that I had any interest in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXOiZQEMr1g
