[quote="AngleOffDeeth"]On my initial listen I loved it, because it was new Sargeist. On the second and third listen (after the honeymoon phase) I find it to be pretty generic overall. Some of it is the production, and some of it is the new singer, but it sounds like a run-of-the-mill BM band.

Just to be clear, it is a good, well made album with some good riffs, but it just isn't wowing me.[/quote

I am kinda leaning in that direction too. For some reason late 90s swedish BM sound comes to mind which I don't really like all that much.

But isn't this what exactly is Sargeist? Never has been creating anything new, just well excecuted black metal. But as they have more memorable songs and riffs is why most people remember Sargeist and not Vargsang.

New album sounded definitely much better than the sound fiasco on "Feeding".

You're not wrong that they've never exactly been a band that breaks the mold. I guess the old singer and the old production just gave the band a more memorable sound than this one.

Sure, Hellwind is not Torog. But imo he does it just fine.

A very good and solid album even though it doesnt top the 3 first after multiple listenings. The new line up and especially the vocalist made a great job here.

Competent album, well made but I can't feel really excited about it. It lacks something.

With the exception of a few recordings, overall shit band with boring riffs.

Had a go at it this morning. Thought the album was thoroughly enjoyable. The atmosphere was grim, drums were balanced (groove/punishment), vocals were better than expected, riffs were solid. Overall a pretty easy listen, which might have turned some people off. Perhaps after a few more listens I can be as bored as the rest of you? Instant buy regardless. If you havent seen them live, you have missed out. Hail Sargeist.

Aside from the very first riff this is an insanely boring, tedious record,

Not good, not bad — just average.

Really came out the gate hot for me and has fallen off big time. The first couple listens were stellar but it easily got eclipsed by Vanhelgd and Eosphoros. No interest in going back at all.
