Agalloch were okay on the demo which was some sort of Doom Black Heavy Metal if I remember correctly. I never bothered to check the other recordings out, they should be different from the demo. It was really boring at times. Dont think Ill miss something

Bone Awl is similar to Ildjarn , harsh minimal black metal but with more punk and twangy guitars. Not for everyone. I only like the debut and Not For Our Feet

Asunder is athmospheric death doom check the samples on their page and youll know . I wasnt too into it

Brocas Helm are old US Power Heavy Metal. Into Metal was more in the classic vein while Black Death is more original to my ears. Both are must haves in a serious heavy metal collection
Into Battle was recently rereleased on Pic LP with a crappy cover but the original LP shouldnt be too tough to find. the other album is very rare on LP even the pic lp reissue is getting rare now

Try the Agalloch demo, it has Black Metal and Folk elements. The later stuff was different, I heard such different definitions such as Postrock, Neofolk, Folk Metal, but I cant give you a good description. You can find tunes on the band page and The End Records, i think.

Asunder's debut is a modern classic as far as death doom is concerned.

I think Agalloch`s Pale folklore (the debut) is pretty good. Little ulver ish.
The Mantle is not bad either, but this band lost more and more of the metal elements.

Agalloch is killer, I would rank the albums:

The Mantle
Pale Folklore
Ashes Against the Grain

I am not familiar with all of their singles and EP releases.

But if you like "Bergtatt"-era Ulver, In the Woods "Omnio", mid period Katatonia etc. then check them out for sure.

OK thanks to all . i'm not really interested in folk oriented stuff , but I like first ulver from time to time .. Really it's more of nostalgia when I listen to it so ...

This is so true.

Albin, I really and truly stink in describing music I love as that what gets me is beyond words anyway. But I can dub you some Asunder, Ashdautas, Furdidurke and Volahn tracks and send 'em along "Ritual" and Damnation if interested. Might be the beAst to take a listen of your own.
