|
|
Well as you all know most attempts at using Photoshop are more often than not pretty lame, however there are occaisionally some great attempts so I'm interested in seeing a few GOOD album covers that use the program.
Seems to be most effective when it comes to most Orthodox black metal bands for some reason, great example being the new Funeral Mist. |

Photoshop covers in this context may be misleading because the majority of layouts today are put together with PS or similar software. |

We all understand that most covers are "put together" by means of a computer, he's talking about covers DESIGNED in Photoshop... |

I can't stand that new Funeral Mist. It's not exactly the Photoshop work that's the problem, it's just the aesthetic (or lack thereof).
There are some alright Photoshop covers but I can't think of any that I love half as much as even a decent hand-drawn or hand-painted cover. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

Let me think...None! Even a cheesy hand drawn cover has more art value than any computer created image. Anyone can do anything with the click of a mouse, but not anyone can create real art, now when a real artist uses photoshop as an enhancement medium things are diffferent. The best covers were created before the digital medium existed, think about Lawvere, Repka, Seagrave, just to name a few, you just can't top that with the use of any digital program... _________________ "We've all got the power in our hands to kill, but most people are afraid to use it. i love the album but maranatha's cover is just sloppily thrown together, anyone with photoshop knowledge couldve whipped it up in a few minutes
they were better off just using the picture of ariochs head on the womans body...its a bit dissapointing compared to past efforts |

i have nothing against photoshop, its just usually done really bad as far as metal covers are concerned.Photoshop is better suited as an enhancing tool rather than something used to create something from scratch when it comes to these album covers. |

I think Septic Flesh - Sumerian daemons is an excelent piece of photoart.
The whole booklet is really good.

Just saw this one. Though I guess you can discuss how much Photoshop it really is.
