like Wolf (swe), Portrait, RAM, In Solitude etc. etc.

stuff in the old Priest/Maiden/Fate style, be it new or old. Just really really killer, preferably riff driven, heavy metal.

just found these guys today, and it's exactly what you want:
SCAVENGER: www.myspace.com/scavengerswe

and probably less what you're after, but in the british garage-metal style:
ZUUL: www.myspace.com/zuulcontact
HIGH SPIRITS: www.myspace.com/highspiritsrock

and in the early US speed metal style:
HARBINGER: www.myspace.com/harbingermetal

I for one am so glad that young/new bands are incorporating actual SINGERS again. It might be unoriginal/rehash/retro/whatever, but classic melodic metal is my favorite kind of metal so I'm glad to see new contributions to the sound.

it's one "trend" that I'd personally welcome.

np: Raven - All for One

there are 1000's of bands in this style. just check out the 80s back catalog of metal blade, metal massacre compilations, etc.

the obvious stuff like early jag panzer, satans host, raven, etc. and work your way to the more obscure stuff. alot found on vibrationsofdoom.com
