I got a copy of the Samael Blood Ritual CD and also the booklet does not contain any lyrics or any other info, only just band pictures. My question is does anyone know which CD version of Blood Ritual has the lyrics in the booklet?
Thanks |

Mine has lyrics. I've had it since it came out so I guess it's a first press. |

Mine has lyrics as well and T shirt order form stapled inside. The address is Van Nuys California I hadn't realised that CM were established in the states by 92! _________________ Reliable Heathens - Astaroth, AtomicGrave, Bestial Aggressor, Blood and Thunder, Blood of Von, Chapel of Doom x3, Chit019, Jesus Iglesias, Piotr Sargnagel, S.charlach, vk666 |

First of all.

The re-press came in like 2005 if I remember right and sucks big time. It's not just the missing lyrics, but the whole layout is all messed up. The richly detailed artwork artwork is hardly noticeable due to wahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too exaggerated contrasts and dark colours. And while that "Their Blood for His Triumph, All My Life for His Glory" sign has a very cool metallic touch on the disc of the first press it looks really cheap the way it comes with the second press.
The dirty trick is that first and second press have the same EAN code and even on the second press there's just 1992 noted. Best way to make the first press out is the cover art.
first press on the left
second press on the right
The differences are pretty obvious, huh?

Around 2000' or so CM rereleased "WORSHIP HIM" and "BLOOD RITUAL" as a DCD, with the cover art for both albums, liner notes, and the lyrics for the BLOOD RITUAL album. The audio was slightly remastered, basically a bit louder than the original press cds. Basically everything that both cds had originally with the exception of the ritual photo and lyrics to the song "Worship Him" that appeared on the OSMOSE cd of the "WORSHIP HIM" album....
This DCD is really the best one to get for this old stuff. Why bother with the separate individual versions at all? |

That's one of my favorite album covers. The original obviously. |

I saw it first time in april 2004 in a big Swedish CD store in Stockholm (in the Drottiningsgatan. Was there on a vacation trip, the shop was directly at the pedestrian area. I think today it is called Bengans shop) where you could buy 90% non-metal stuff.
Saw in the same shop a (bootleg?) version of Bolt Thrower's - In Battle There Is No Law CD as well back then. _________________ Tradelist + Good Traders:

Might as well throw in that the 1987-1992 double CD (which only has the first two albums, despite the title) from '94 lacks lyrics. It does have an essay in which Wim Baelus complains about the state of metal and how bands became weak in the name of "progression" and claims that Samael are an example of a band that upholds real metal values and sounds. It's kind of humorous in retrospect, considering what Samael would end up sounding like. |
