In my view, the only music with balls like metal.

Respighi, Saint-Saens, Bruckner and Schumann...

Anyone else listen to the classical, baroque, modern, Romantic, early music, ancient music?

Indian classical is good too. It sounds like prog blues from 5,000 years before the blues. (Fuck the blues.)

Of course- Wagner, Mozart, Strauss, Mussorgsky.

Emulation of this music nowadays generally results in disaster. Basilis Poledouris is a rare exception.

For me it's insane that so many metal bands are influenced by classical music, especially Wagner, yet have no concept of the psychological intricacies employed by said composer. I mean how many bands actually build up to a high point of tension & emotion, lead the listener into the epicenter of their music and then end it all with one epic and unforgettable clash? Bathory and Burzum came close.

Handel is also good. I remember falling in love with Messiah around the age of 10.

I wouldn't consider the Conan soundtrack as classical music but it's a great piece of art. Got this on CD and LP. Very Happy

Also Schubert "Winterreise" is very great. The last track "Der Leiermann" is one of the most depressing pieces of music I have come across so far.

You are a joker, asking that question on a board dominated by people into black metal and similar stuff, who generally tend to appreciate that music as well.
