Has anything ever been recorded with the great Wagner on vocals? Any live shows, rehearsals, demos... etc? I'm really interested in hearing the early incarnation of Sepultura.

As far as I know they didn't record anything with Wagner. They did play couple of live shows.

Quote from www.sepultura.be fanpage biography:

Quote:
On December 4, 1984 Sepultura played their first show. Or better, half of Sepultura, because Paulo and Roberto UFO weren't there. Paulo was on vacation with his family and UFO got out at the last moment, after his mother threatened to give him the beating of a lifetime if he came in after ten in the evening. The line-up of Sepultura on that historical night was because of this, Max on the guitar, Wagner on the vocals and Igor on the drums (it was the first time that Igor played a real drum set, with toms and everything, borrowed from Helinho of Overdose).
The show was a disaster: Max played with his guitar totally out of tune, Wagner forgot all the lyrics and Igor (wearing a Nazi helmet and a wig) beat the drums as if it was the end of the world. The band played "Adote Um Rato", "Filhos de Hitler", "Cavaleiros da Morte", "Anticristo" and other marvels. Most of the audience burst out laughing. Of the hundred or so metalheads that were in the audience, just one, Carlos Sabbath, came to praise the band at the end of the show: He said "It was crap, but I loved it!".

If only a recording would exist...!

It sounds like pure genius. There's got to be one bootlegged recording of an early show somewhere.

In the short bio included in the Bestial Devastation/M.Visions remaster cd
it says:
"One thing i remember is that we had one of our friends come and do the voice for the intro('the Curse') because he would do that voice without vocal effects--he was kind of burping in a way.It was funny, so we had him come down and do it in the studio.I don't even remember his name!"

Wagner left the band in early 1985.

That's Max, Wagner and Igor. They were like 15 years old at that picture.

And that looks more like wronly drawn swastika to me but coudly be the DRI symbol as well.
