I'm on the fence - every past release I've loved their sound but thought their riffs and song construction was kind of dull compared to the obvious model (some Canadian group or other).

I don't think it was ever about the riffs with this band, perhaps you should look elsewhere

Ah, I was placing an order and I figured - fuck it, it's $5. I don't think I'll like it was much as say Teitanblood but at least I'm guaranteed a hefty amount of atmosphere.

I think the second was better than the first. I can't decide if I like the third one more than the second.

Yeah the new production is a bit more hollow sounding on the drums. It has the same analog sound as the second.

For this band I would always expect more of the same with slight tweaks to the sound. Thats their agenda and they're quite good at it. If i want this sound with a fuller production and not so much Blasphemy worship there is always Blasphemophagher, Diocletian or even Sacramentary Abolishment/Axis of Advance. Something for everyone!

I prefer the first one than the 2nd, the low end structures are good it but doesn't appeal to me as much as the primitive first lp.

...and yes, I dont think this band was ever about the "riffs".

If it's fairly similar to the first two albums I'll be pretty disappointed to be honest. They really need to progress. I love both albums so far, but they can't keep doing the same thing forever.

They use the same template and will never deviate too far from it. That's their sound and agenda as someone else has already mentioned.

Of course, but they can only do the same album so many times. At the moment they stand out quite clearly as one of the best (I hate using this term, but) "bestial" Black/Death bands for me. I'm not saying they go write some progressive dribble, but something need's to be done in my eyes.

I don't get it. You "love" both albums and they're one of the best "bestial black/death metal" but you think something needs to be done? I think if you wanna a change then you don't like their music at all.

I view it as there are plenty of bands plying this sound that do all sorts of different things within the basic framework we're discussing here. No need to wish Proclamation to do something different, just put on another band. Out of all those bands I think its good we have one that simply takes what Blasphemy did and twists it around ever so slightly, with excellent results, and does so consistently. No harm in that eh?
