I lived here for a year and a half, fucking hated the place. Vinyl Exchange is a decent shop though, you can find some great bargains there some times! Metal scene is a joke though.

I am of course guessing that you're talking about Manchester (UK) with this!

Vinyl Exchange is good but can be expensive. The best record shop is King Bee in Chorlton - easy to get to via tram or bus, depending on where you're staying.

There's normally a decent amount of gigs here, but it looks quiet over the Summer. Liverpool and Leeds are not far away though.

Skullflower are playing here this Thursday if you're into that kind of thing.

Vinyl Exchange really shines in the CD section - I picked up a first press of "To The Glory of Ur" there once for about 3. The vinyl is however horribly over-priced.

I was never aware of King Bee! Looking at the website it seems quite expensive as well though!

Liverpool seems to be on the up though in terms of gigs. Undergang and Stargazer are playing there on Wednesday, train is pretty cheap and the venue is a five minute walk from the station.
